The Joy of Dressing Boys

I absolutely love dressing my boys (proud boy mom here!) and have always had so much fun shopping for them. There is such joy in finding classic and special pieces for them to wear, especially for more formal occasions like holidays and family portraits. And after years of hunting for the right fit, material, and style, I have a list of go-to brands that I adore and always turn to.

A quick note: I believe it’s paramount to teach children about dress code etiquette, as it will serve them their entire lives. Sure, they can wear play clothes to school, play dates and sports (my two are often in athletic clothing!), however it’s important for them to know when to dress up and trade the performance shirt for a polo.

Bella Bliss:
Bella Bliss makes the softest Pima cotton children’s clothing. They are by far my favorite brand and comprise the majority of my boy’s wardrobe of nicer attire. The pull-on shorts and crew neck t-shirts have long been our summer uniform, and the half zips and twill pants are ideal year-round.

Ralph Lauren:
The epitome of classic and timeless style, Ralph Lauren is unmatched. Their clothing always looks polished and well-tailored, perfect for any event. Crisp white polos, adorable knit sweaters and the coziest sweatpants remain favorites of my two children.

Little English:
I discovered this brand when my eldest was a baby, and instantly fell in love with the heirloom quality garments. I now buy the boys their striped polos and turtlenecks, button downs, and sweaters.

Bailey Boys & J. Bailey:
A trusted source for button downs and dressier shorts (think spring holidays, J. Bailey is traditional and sweet yet appeals to kids of all ages.

Peter Millar:
Since many school-aged children prefer the feel and comfort of performance fabrics, this brand is a favorite as they offer just that with a refined look and style. A win for parent and child! My two love their shorts, half zips, and polos.

Minnow:
The best of the best when it comes to boys’ swimwear, Minnow offers the cutest swim trunks and rash guards in preppy designs. Their trunks are just the right length hitting above the knee, and I love how there are an assortment of rash guards to match.

Petite Plume:
Velvety soft and so handsome, the Petite Plume boy’s pjs are fit for a little gentleman. My favorite are the blue gingham and red stripe
