Spring in Dallas is brief, however such a lovely season. The days are often cool and sunny, of course there is the occasional spring shower, flowers bloom, and buds swell green and plump on trees and hedges. Overnight it seems the neighborhood blossoms into the most vibrant palette of colors, set against the backdrop of a bright blue sky. Spring also evokes my desire to entertain and make even simple gatherings around our table feel special.
We recently enjoyed a Sunday afternoon tea party with our children, and what a memory it was! I set the table with a pretty floral tablecloth and napkins as well as our fine China, and we sipped tea and nibbled on tea sandwiches, crudité, mini cupcakes and little chocolate dipped shortbread cookies. This slow and sweet afternoon reminded us all of how precious family time is, and that elevating the everyday can make any moment feel like a celebration.
