When it comes to interiors, two things remain true: blue and white will always be my beloved palette, and Mark Sikes my choice designer and inspiration. Beyond talented, Sikes affinity for blue and white has stood the test of time, as have his incredible designs – think ikat fabrics, striped wallpaper, heirlooms and antiques, inlay wooden tables, and lots of layers. I often pour over his two books, thumbing page after beautiful page of blue and white heaven. The truest testament to his work is that even projects completed 10 years ago remain inspiring today.
So why blue and white you ask? There is something so calming and peaceful about these two colors together, and I love how the pair can create a trusted formula for a graceful bedroom or casual and livable kitchen. Much like Sikes homes, our house is mostly blue and white with hints of muted greens, reds, creams, and earthy hues. Even though our recent renovation is complete, we continue to add layers, with Sikes’ books as our steadfast compass. Here are a few of his celebrated rooms, enjoy!
